just browsing around i noticed the account Mirror Lmage in a few of this weeks weekly records and the user profile page lists a weekly overall xp gain and weekly overall level gain much less than the sum of the weekly individual skill gains (either xp or level). at a first glance i thought it wasnt adding dung but it seems to be entirely incorrect based on the individual gains showing. i was browsing the forums for a similar error but i didnt find any unresolved edit: looking further and using the stat progress the total change is correct and the account actually lost alot of levels and xp in other skills similar to the 8ay record i reported a week or two ago. except this account hasnt had any activity since dec 1st, but still not long enough for a different account to obtain its name. what is going on here? atleast there were no global records set this time.

this is making me think, maybe you should implement a system so that accounts that lose xp could be checked for legitimacy somehow. (although accounts can be rolled back and still be legit.) this seems to be a case of an obviously different account obtaining that name somehow. even if it had been a month and it was easy to explain, some kind of system for catching this might not be a bad idea. |

Hey Bob, Nice catch - you're correct that it appears that this display name has been swapped to another account. The main way RuneTrack typically prevents this from happening is via the Name Change Contributions page (http://runetrack.com/contribute_name_change.php), which relies on the community to transition any account on which a display name change is detected to its new display name, before that account's old display name is taken by someone else. This prevents any overlapping from occurring. In the past this has worked nicely to prevent this issue, but this month it seems that the massive amounts of F2P players who lost their highscores were clogging up the system a bit, as all F2P players were flagged as possible display name changes. I went ahead and cleared out the Name Change Contribution queue (which was at ~7,000 due to the F2P highscore loss), so hopefully this system should prevent this from happening again. ![]() |
