Yes, it's going to be quite difficult, because Jagex has purposefully not given tracking sites any support for this yet (see viewtopic.php?f=2&t=47 for more info on this).

However, in the meantime, I've been setting up a stat validation system, which will compare the stats between two accounts in order to automatically merge them. I've also been looking into a way of connecting accounts which have changed their display name using highscore-trawling algorithms. More on that later.

yes but let's say user1 has overall_exp of 60mil

and then he changes username and before you figure that out he already got 64mil exp.

Now there is no mathematical way to prove these accounts match because they have a 4 million exp difference.
