Post subject:  Bug: Modify your clan competition
When I go to add someone to our competition that just started the error report i get is "The Competition Tracker was not modified because the following errors were detected: * Competitions cannot be longer than 3 months "

Its already started from Jan 25th, 2010 - Jan 30th, 2010. I asked others and all of them said they arent able to modify their competitions to add people either.

Could you please help? I think it is a bug.

I have tried the same as Mrs Lunatic and see the same she is doing.

Also, I set a competition to run for 12 months from 1st January for my clan and when I try to add a name I get a message suggesting the max time is 3 months. I cannot remember the exact words though.

I did not know of the 3 month limit and that was not reported when I started the competition.

Also wondered if it was a possible bug.

Hi,

Yes, this was a bug. That error message should only appear on competitions longer than 3 months. It's now been fixed and should be working good again. :)

Yes, there is a new 3 month limit on competitions - looking back the other day, I found a lot of misuse of what the trackers were intended to be used for. Competition trackers weren't meant to be clan history trackers, and should reflect real clan competitions/races, all of which are usually a week/month long (at most 3 months). A lot of times I'd simply see people create year-long trackers then never visit them again. Having so many year-long trackers was simply eating up too much bandwidth.

If a clan really needs year long tracking, then they can just create 4 seasonal competition trackers.

Many thanks indeed and yes the bug has definitely been fixed - managed to add another name to our clan weekly with no error message :)

Thanks also for the explanation on the 3 month limit, my apologies I did not know this and should have read a bit more, sorry for the hassle.

I do have one competition "Chocoholics 2010 All" running for 12 months, would you like me to amend the date for this ?

According to your tracker (http://runetrack.com/competitions/compe ... php?id=543) the competition length looks like it's already set for 3 months (not sure if you actually changed this or it was changed during the bug fix), but feel free to adjust this time frame to any length the system will allow. :)
