Your profile can be deleted, but there isn't anything to keep it from being recreated. |

Hm, actually I think I may have to start denying requests for profile deletions unless people have a very good reason (I can't really even think of one at the moment). The notion that people think they should have a right to clear public information from the internet just because they feel like it is a bit concerning. Again, I would like to emphasize that all of the stats data on RuneTrack comes directly from the RuneScape Highscores, which Jagex releases into the public domain for fansites to use freely. Jagex has decided that players do not own the rights to their skills' ranks, levels, and experience data. If you disagree with this policy - the organization you should be taking it up with is Jagex, not RuneTrack. Jagex provides RuneTrack (and anyone else who wants it) free use of player stat data through their HighScores lite feed - so if you take issue with this, you should contact Jagex with your concerns. |

I need it deleted for various reasons. I don't believe that I should have to beg you to delete my runetrack profile because it is my personal information that I don't want on the internet. I don't like my runetrack profile displaying my recent usernames for anyone to see my origional one. Please delete it, I really need it deleted. |

stlpx wrote: because it is my personal information I won't disagree that this information could be considered personal from an objective standpoint - but Jagex has chosen to release it to the public, no longer making it your personal information. If you feel that Jagex did not have a right to do this, then you should contact Jagex. RuneTrack only gets its information from what Jagex publicly releases. stlpx wrote: I need it deleted for various reasons. As I said above - I may make exceptions for deleting certain information if people have a legitimate reason for doing so. If you send me a private message detailing exactly why it needs to be deleted (not simply "for various reasons"), then I may be able to make an exception. Just from searching Google occasionally for RuneTrack-related discussions on other forums, it seems that the two primary reasons for not wanting to be tracked by RuneTrack are:
There are some legitimate privacy reasons I could understand (such as people who use their real full names for their display names), but reasons like those two I posted above are not what I would consider legitimate. |

Stlpx has now contacted me with his reasons, which I felt were valid enough for the display name he wanted deleted to be removed. |

Notification to all users of Runetrack: Think carefully before you register with this "fansite" as removal from it is not possible. (I didn't register with it myself, another person did so, and canvassed his friends to get the 10 unique ip addresses to activate the tracking) The administrator of this fansite will not remove my details despite my appeal on forums (you have to join to be able to access the forums by the way... sad) for him to do so, and giving him details in private e-mail as to why I do not want my Runescape account tracked. Oh he will quote chapter and verse as to his perception of my rights as a Runescape player (I should apparantly stop playing online games if I dont want sites like this to track me) and his perception of what Jagex's role is (he passes the buck to them) but he wont delete my account. So, consider carefully before you join, and be careful who you befriend on Runescape, the person who created my profile promised that he would contact the site administrator to get it removed... his reasons for creating it were... because I was having some cancer tests (huge family history of Cancer, my Mother died from it, my Sister treated recently for it) and was leaving Runescape. He added me to Runetrack to check I wasn't just deleting him.... I'm assuming now, following the reply I received from the administrator that the person that added me did in fact try to get me removed, but was met with the same response, the ego that feels that he has the right to display on his website details that he knows cause distress to the person involved, and who couldn't care less. I will as he suggested contact Jagex, and perhaps I can get myself removed from hiscores =) In the meantime, I can change my username to iliiillliii etc every 28 days to make it as difficult as possible for intrusive sites such as this to exist. Take care everyone, play safe =) |

Hate_Runetrack wrote: In my opinion, your website is intrusive, and although Jagex permit hiscores to be viewed we do have an option to turn our "Adventure's log" onto private or friends viewing only. The information held within the Adventure's log is however displayed on your website, and I do not give permission for you to do so. (e.g. the date on which I achieved each of my skill levels is viewable) Hi "Hate RuneTrack", I'm afraid your assumptions are inaccurate. RuneTrack does not use any information from the Adventure Logs (in fact, see this suggestion thread where it's been requested that I add Adventure Log features for more complete tracking: viewtopic.php?f=3&t=111). It's on my list of features to implement eventually, but currently RuneTrack does not extract any data whatsoever from the Adventure Logs. All of the highscores data comes directly from Jagex's public lite highscores which they encourage RuneScape fansites to use. If you're implying that fansites shouldn't be able to store this information and attach time stamps to it based on when it was captured - that doesn't make much sense either. If that were the case, then sites like Google couldn't exist, because Google archives a public website's content with a time stamp in order to allow it to be searched at a later time, just like RuneTrack archives public stats information so it can be searched for at a later time. Hate_Runetrack wrote: Perhaps you could review your policy, and ensure that you only display profiles of players of Runescape who wish their information to be displayed by yourselves? You must realise that profiles are created for reasons other than those for which you intend the site used for? Consideration should be made for the fact that not all people want creepy messages sent to them on Runescape as a result of people accessing your profile on Runetrack. For example "What were you doing over the weekend, you didn't get any xp"... Highly intrusive you must agree with that, and very creepy... I'm not really sure what you mean by this - Jagex are the ones releasing player highscores for free and open use (as they should) - not RuneTrack. We're just one of the many sites that uses some of the data feeds they provide. I do wonder why you are not equally (or more logically, more so) agitated by what Jagex is doing. If you consider this a matter of privacy, then your concerns should be directed at Jagex, as they are the ones who are providing us this data. Hate_Runetrack wrote: The information held within the Adventure's log is however displayed on your website, and I do not give permission for you to do so. (e.g. the date on which I achieved each of my skill levels is viewable) As Sword already mentioned, the adventure log is not used. The date of achievements isn't being fetched, but rather RuneTrack is generating them as they happen. For example: you gain 5 levels, RuneTrack compares your current level to your level yesterday, concludes that you've gained 5 levels today and then just attaches today's date to them all. In short: RuneTrack is inferring the date. Hate_Runetrack wrote: Perhaps you could review your policy, and ensure that you only display profiles of players of Runescape who wish their information to be displayed by yourselves? Currently, RuneTrack is tracking about 15,000 RuneScape accounts. In order to do what you are suggesting, all account tracking data would have to be hidden until each person contacted Sword Kill individually and proved that it was their account they wanted tracked and then for him to manually reinstate fifteen thousand accounts one by one. That seems ludicrous to say the least. Hate_Runetrack wrote: You must realise that profiles are created for reasons other than those for which you intend the site used for? Of course it'll happen, but see my answer to your previous question as to why nothing is done about it. Hate_Runetrack wrote: Consideration should be made for the fact that not all people want creepy messages sent to them on Runescape as a result of people accessing your profile on Runetrack. For example "What were you doing over the weekend, you didn't get any xp"... Highly intrusive you must agree with that, and very creepy... I have yet to get a single creepy message from anyone on RS; you're popular! If it is random people doing it, ignore them; block them; or turn pm to "friends." If you're getting those messages from people on your friend list, that's partly your fault. Hate_Runetrack wrote: Please will you therefore remove my profile, and put in place a block to ensure that my Runescape username (currently Jads) cannot be added back without my consent. As I've stated in this very thread, no system is in place to stop accounts from being tracked again. Creating such a system to please you and the few other people that have complained seems like a waste of time. If you do not want people to know what you're doing/not doing: don't play online games. By Jagex's ToS, your account is their property and they encourage us to do what we want with their info; your feelings do not matter to them. P.S. you've trained every skill except for Dungeoneering this week; it looks bad with a big "0" there for this week. |

I think there wouldn't be any reason for any user to complain about his/her hiscores being just other then them trying to hide activities like botting/bug abusing. Therefore I think that what you are saying about privacy is just stupid as there is no intention other then just to view your gains in a day, no personal information is used other then your XP. Please stop posting these messages as we all know that you're obviously botting or performing other illegal activites. ![]() |
