I keep trying to update the names for the site, but I have run into 2 problems. The first one is for accounts that had their display name changed by Jagex due to the previous name being offensive. When I try to enter the new name of [#random number] it won't register it. The second problem I am noticing is when I go to check a name and it comes up that it is the current name. I enter that and it will not register. Love to keep helping once these are fixed ![]() |

Hey, Yes i have same issues to with namechanging. But i think the problem with the name not changed ( so it's still the same ) could be of players getting out of the hiscores so then runetrack isn't able to track them. Then runetrack will place them in the contribute namechange because it can't be tracked but the name hasn't changed. It's then hard to try and find a solution but then again you can click generate a new name. Grtz, DutchStar |

Hi GirdsPaladin, GirdsPaladin wrote: The first one is for accounts that had their display name changed by Jagex due to the previous name being offensive. When I try to enter the new name of [#random number] it won't register it. This is because the [#random number] is not actually a RuneScape account name, simply a Jagex system account identifier. Jagex doesn't allow any method of externally tracing their identifiers to specific account names.GirdsPaladin wrote: The second problem I am noticing is when I go to check a name and it comes up that it is the current name. I enter that and it will not register. This happens when the username has been banned. If you check the RuneScape highscores for accounts that come up with the same current name, you'll see they won't be listed on the highscores anymore because they've been banned.Hope that helps. ![]() |

Do we bother about the ones which have been banned or just move on to the next with the "generate new name" button? edit - just finished going through 50 names and only one accepted - lol, 2 had numbers [#175072464] and [#225151040] so I kept them on friends in case they actually change names. one was odd - the new name was IlIIlliiiII (indigo, lema, indigo, indigo, lema, lema, and 5 indigos). the change name routine errored though and did not accept the name change. I'm sorry but I lost track of the original name. There was also a couple where the original name was the same but it had been changed and perhaps then changed back. I wondered about that so I checked high scores as well - none of them appeared there. |

Basically - if a name change submission ever gives the red error message and you are certain you've typed their new name in correctly, feel free to just "generate a new name". The reason about only one out of the 50 you tried were accepted was that someone must've very recently went through the system and changed all of the names that could be changed, leaving only the ones that couldn't. However, once you pass up a name with the "generate new name" button, it will never appear for you again (though it will appear for others until they pass it up as well). |
