(SportsNetwork.com) - The Vancouver Canucks hope their recent dominance of the Calgary Flames can get them back in the win column when the Pacific Division foes meet in Saturdays battle at Rogers Arena. Vancouver is capping a five-game homestand tonight after losing Thursdays clash against Roberto Luongo and the Florida Panthers. However, the Canucks hope to rebound by posting their 10th consecutive victory against the Flames. Luongo made a triumphant return to Rogers Arena, as the former Canucks goaltender turned aside 32 shots to help anchor Floridas 3-1 win. The veteran netminder set franchise records with 252 wins and 38 shutouts over eight seasons in Vancouver before getting dealt to the Panthers last March. Daniel Sedin was the only Canuck to get one past Luongo, while Ryan Miller allowed all three goals on 30 shots for Vancouver, which had a two-game winning streak halted and fell to 2-2-0 on this homestand. After Luongo was honored with a video tribute prior to the game, Sedin welcomed his former teammate back to Rogers Arena with a snap shot from the high slot 3:39 into the contest, but the Panthers followed by backing their netminder with three straight goals. It just seemed like we werent working hard enough, Vancouver coach Willie Desjardins said. A lot of times that emotion can take stuff out of you. Like if youve been thinking about it for two days and all of a sudden youve kind of spent all your energy before the game even occurred. The Canucks went 0-for-6 on the power play in the loss, which dropped their record on home ice this season to 11-7-1. Forward Chris Higgins missed Thursdays game with an illness and is questionable for tonight. Vancouver is 2-0 against the Flames this season and hasnt lost in this matchup since a 4-2 defeat at Calgary on March 3, 2013. The Canucks boast a 21-3-2 record over the last 26 meetings overall and have taken the past eight encounters in British Columbia. In addition to its struggles against the Canucks, Calgary also will try to halt a three-game slide tonight. The Flames are 0-3-0 since the calendar flipped to 2015 after ending December on a four-game winning streak. Calgary also is just 4-10-1 over its last 15 games and is two points out of a playoff spot in the Western Conference. The Flames were handed a 6-5 regulation loss Friday night by the visiting Florida Panthers. Tomas Fleischmann scored the game-winner for Florida with 3:09 remaining in the third period. Fleischmann backhanded in a rebound from the slot 45 seconds after the Flames had tied it on Matt Stajans second goal of the game. T.J. Brodie also posted two goals for Calgary, which ended with a 3-3-0 record on a six-game homestand. Jonas Hiller took the loss after allowing all six goals on 35 shots. Pond hockey is what I really want to call it. It seemed that the last shot would win the game, said Calgary coach Bob Hartley. Hiller, who has played in each of Calgarys last nine games, could get a rest from rookie Joni Ortio on Saturday. Ortio, who is taking over the backup role for an injured Karri Ramo, has faced Vancouver once in his career, losing a 2-1 regulation decision on March 8 of last season. Hiller is 11-6-4 with a 2.96 goals against average in 22 career outings against the Canucks. Miller owns a 4-2-0 record and 2.77 GAA in his career against Calgary and is expected to start tonight.
