PHILADELPHIA -- Curtis Marsh was out of football a few days ago. On Sunday, he could be starting at cornerback for the Philadelphia Eagles. Marsh, a third-round draft pick of the Eagles in 2011, was cut by the team in training camp. He was then signed by the Cincinnati Bengals and released a few weeks later. With just four cornerbacks on the roster, and one of them, starter Bradley Fletcher, hampered by a pectoral injury he sustained in last Sundays win over Oakland, the Eagles reached out to Marsh. They signed him Tuesday. Fletcher has yet to practice fully this week, and if his condition does not improve, either Marsh, or Roc Carmichael could start opposite Cary Williams at corner when the Eagles travel to Lambeau Field to take on the Green Bay Packers. "Thats one of the benefits of having a guy that you signed that you can run and compete," defensive co-ordinator Bill Davis said of Marsh. "He almost made the team, so he was very close, one of the last cuts. "We have a lot of confidence in Curtis. He knows the system. He may very well have to go out and play a lot of snaps against Green Bay," Davis said. "We have to have someone who understands how we communicate and how the defence is structured." Marsh, 6-foot-1, 197 pounds, played seven games as a rookie in 2011 and 15 last year. He also played in two games for the Bengals this year before being released. He has never started in 24 career games. The 25-year-old cornerback remains confident he can help, if needed. "Its a huge advantage for me because I know the calls," Marsh said. "I know the hand signals. I know the techniques. I know this system. There might be a few things I still need to learn, but if they give me the game plan Ill pick it up right away. "Theres no learning period, like there was in Cincinnati," he added. "When I was in Cincinnati, I had to learn a whole new playbook. Its a lot easier when youve been with a team all through training camp. Without (training camp) its a lot more difficult." Fletcher, a free agent addition from St. Louis, has started eight of the teams nine games this year, missing the second week of the season against San Diego with a concussion. The fifth-year veteran shares the team lead with two interceptions and leads the team with 12 pass breakups. "I was still limited in what I could do," Fletcher said. "Im feeling better every day, though. Im running better. It doesnt hurt as much. So well just see how it goes. Well see how I feel Saturday and Sunday." Fletchers loss, if he cant play, would be even more worrisome if Green Bay quarterback Aaron Rodgers wasnt out with a broken collarbone. "I hope we have him," Davis said. "But hes got an injury that just takes us day to day and well watch it one day at a time." NOTES: Defensive end Cedric Thornton (knee) returned to practice yesterday and is expected to play Sunday. Quarterback Mike Vick (hamstring) was limited again and is not expected to play. Nick Foles took all the reps with the first team and Matt Barkley got the reps with the twos, according to head coach Chip Kelly.
Tobias Enstrom Jersey . Speaking on TSN Radio 1050s TSN Drive with Dave Naylor on Monday, Colangelo said he had no intention of tanking the shortened 2011-12 season, but definitely wanted a high pick in the draft. "I wish that word wasnt used for headline reasons," said Colangelo, "but the story behind it was: how can we fix the system? How can we tweak the system to make it less likely that teams are rewarded for losing records? "I do believe that if youre as transparent as we were at the time - with our season seat holders, our fans, the market place and the media - everybody knew what the plan was and what we were going through.

Lars Eller scored the lone shootout goal, Price stopped all three shots he faced in the tiebreaker, and the Canadiens beat the Lightning 2-1 on Saturday night. "I really appreciated our team effort," Montreal coach Michel Therrien said. "The energy was there right from the get-go. Guys competed hard, they were quick on puck, and we didnt force plays when we didnt have to." Valtteri Filppula, Nikita Kucherov and Teddy Purcell all failed to score on Price, who made 44 saves in a 2-1 shootout loss to the Lightning on Nov. 12. "Youve got to be happy with three saves," Price said. Eller made a couple moves before beating Ben Bishop on the Canadiens first shootout attempt. Eller has made all three of his shootout attempts this season. Tomas Plekanec scored in regulation for Montreal. Price stopped 23 shots through overtime. "Hes been phenomenal," Therrien said about Price. "In the third period, when they gave us a push, he was making key saves. He showed again tonight he is one of the best goalies in the NHL." Martin St. Louis scored for the Lightning, who also got 20 saves in regulation and overtime from Bishop. Tampa Bay had its five-game winning streak end. "If there is a silver lining, we do get a point out of this," Lightning coach Jon Cooper said. Plekanec opened the scoring, beating Bishop with a backhander 5:15 into the second period. It was his 169th goal, which moved him past Shayne Corson and Gilles TTremblay into sole possession of 31st place on Montreals career list.dddddddddddd St. Louis tied it from the top of the right circle on Tampa Bays sixth shot of the game at 11:43 of the second. The Lightning captain has a goal in four straight games and eight points during a six-game points streak. Montreal had the first six shots, including an in-close backhander by Daniel Briere and a shot from the left circle from Plekanec. Nate Thompson got Tampa Bays first shot 11 minutes into to the game, a backhander stopped by Price. The Canadiens outshot Tampa Bay 15-9 through two periods. "That was a tough start for us," Cooper said. "Our timing was off, our passes were off. A good thing Bishop was on because that could have gotten ugly for us quickly." Bishop had won his previous five starts, allowing six goals during the stretch. The Lightning had nine of the 11 shots during the first 9 minutes of the third, and 14-6 overall edge in the period. Price made a save midway through the third on Radko Gudas backhander. NOTES: St. Louis has 950 points, two behind Rick Tocchet for 89th on the NHL list. ... Canadiens rookie LW Michael Bournival, pointless over his previous 13 games, didnt play. ... Plekanec has 420 points with Montreal, one away from tying Stephane Richer for 29th on the team list. ...
