There's been about 70ish names? that regenerate every 4-7 days. Some have changed but are clearly freeplayers Some are the same as before Some don't exist. Will they always be there? Is there a system in place for removing them - like after so many people click for a new name? How do they get 'detected' as freeplayer? Also I think every name with kony in it is being reset - they don't add and don't show as past names - take s u o m i for example. |

Hi Jamandy52, Jamandy52 wrote: There's been about 70ish names? that regenerate every 4-7 days. Do you mean the same names re-appear on the Name Change Contribution page every week or so? What may be happening is that that just happens to be the average time interval at which your IP address changes/refreshes. Whenever you skip a name change, the system logs your IP address to ensure that you never see that name again (though it still appears for other people). However, if your IP address changes, then the system won't know to prevent you from seeing that name again. Jamandy52 wrote: Will they always be there? Is there a system in place for removing them - like after so many people click for a new name? Basically, whenever someone clicks for a new name, they are "down-voting" that display name. The more "down votes" a display name gets, the less frequently it appears in the Name Change Contribution queue (and it never appears to the same IP address twice as stated above). When a name receives enough down-votes, then it is completely removed from the Name Change Contribution queue, and the system marks the account as F2P/banned. Jamandy52 wrote: How do they get 'detected' as freeplayer? This page indicates whether an account is F2P or not: http://services.runescape.com/m=adventu ... ord_kill11 It takes a while to load this page for some reason, so that's why there's a few seconds of delay before the red message appears and re-directs you to a new name. One thing you might try is this: Go to that user's User Profile, and look for their most recent display name (what it was before they changed it to Kony) - it'll be the first display name in the list. Try entering that display name in as the new name and see if that works. Hope that helps - let me know if you have any more questions. Many thanks for your contributions as well! ![]() |

Thanks - the Ip switching would make sense, and I hadn't considered that for the Kony names. ![]() Thanks for the feedback and information. I LOVE this site ![]() |
