LIVERPOOL will not return for Nabil Fekir in January and a deal is just as unlikely to be revisited in the summer. That’s according to the Liverpool Echo. The Reds were close to signing the France international in the summer with sbo333 a £53million deal agreed with Lyon. He had been lined up as the replacement to Philippe Coutinho after the Brazilian joined Barcelona back in January. But the deal for Fekir fell through in the 11th hour on the eve of the World Cup due to Liverpool’s concerns over an old knee injury the forward had suffered and the quality of the surgery done to repair the issue. While intense transfer sbo333 speculation saw the Merseyside outfit tipped to return for Fekir for the rest of the summer - no talks took place between the two clubs. And the well-sourced Echo insist that Liverpool have no intentions on going back in for Fekir in the coming winter window or in the summer transfer market following that. Reliable Liverpool reporter James Pearce said: “Liverpool’s stance has always been that that deal is absolutely dead in the water and won’t be revisited because of concerns of his knee and how his ACL had been repaired.
“They felt there was a higher than normal chance of it going again. There must be a point where the price would come down when sbo333 Liverpool would think he would be worth the risk.
“I don’t know what that level would be but he hasn’t signed a new contract. As that contract runs down, the numbers might suddenly be more appealing to Liverpool in terms of the risk-factor.
“I honestly don’t know the answer to that but Liverpool have always been adamant that that ship has well and truly sailed and won’t be revisited.
